I wrote this from an Adoptive Mom's perspective -- dedicated to Holly, and Beth, my daughter's mother.

Your not unlike myself
I recognize the doubt and fears
Our beginning journey
together, through the years
 
A child you birthed
I now hold as my own
Never will I forget our connection
With threads of love we are sewn
 
Unforgotten that day
I gave you my word, my pledge
From one mother to another
I will honor what I've said
 
The day will come, the question
"My firstmother, did you remember?"
With confidence, with love
My answer I will render
 
"Yes, my child,
I loved her by loving you
by pictures, by letters, and 
All I promised to do"
"Tho' the journey long
My vow carried me through
When I gave my word to her
I was also giving it to you" 
 
I can already see the smile
that decorates our child's face
as she holds two mother's love
two bonds, never to be erased
